I Know What You Did Last Summer is a horror film franchise consisting of three slasher films and one television series, loosely based on the novel of the aforementioned name by Lois Duncan. The offset installment was written by Kevin Williamson, directed by Jim Gillespie, and released in 1997.
The first ii installments star Jennifer Dear Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Muse Watson. In improver, the supporting cast includes: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Johnny Galecki in the offset film, with Brandy, Mekhi Phifer and Matthew Settle in the second film.

The murderous fisherman with a hook stalks the two surviving teens, Julie James and Ray Bronson who left him for dead. In September 2014, Sony reported that they have plans to remake the film, with Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard writing the script.
In an interview with Blumhouse.com "Shockwaves" podcast in June 2016, author Flanagan revealed and further confirmed this new iteration of the franchise would non accept whatever inventions of the Lois Duncan novel (the antagonist being a central character) nor the 1997 feature picture show (the fisherman Ben Willis and four primary protagonists Julie James, Helen Shivers, Barry Cox, and Ray Bronson).
Further, the new direction and scope of the motion-picture show necessitates an estimated budget of $fifteen–20 1000000. Sony also states that the film is a high priority and was initially fix for release in 2020.[1]

Amazon Studios acquired the rights in July 2019 to develop a television serial adaptation with Neal H. Moritz and James Wan producing.[two] Amazon has ordered the serial in 2020,[iii] and that Craig Macneill would direct the pilot episode written by Sara Goodman.[4] In January 2021, Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Flower, and Nib Heck were announced to star in the series for Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Tv.[5]

Novel [edit]
In 1973, Lois Duncan's I Know What You Did Last Summer was published. Information technology was republished as a necktie-in to the film in 1997 and in one case once more in 2018 with some of its content modernized. The flick adaptation reenvisioned the story of the novel equally a violent slasher picture show, as opposed to the ho-hum-burn mystery nature of the novel.
